Maintenance of the chassis

The chassis is a key to affecting the life of the pump truck. This is the factor that determines how long the pump truck will eventually work. 


The chassis also supports and maintains the stability of the concrete pump truck. More importantly, the chassis is also the power source for the long-term and uninterrupted operation of the concrete pump truck. The maintenance of the chassis is essential. Although the vehicle is not running, the engine and transmission ware working when pouring.


Engine - the heart of chassis

The engine, which is the heart of the vehicle, provides driving and working power for the concrete pump truck through the connection with the transmission device and transmission system of the whole machine.

  • Check the oil level and condition of the engine oil.
  • Check the coolant level, coolant level and water temperature in the engine.
  • Check engine oil pressure.


Transmission system—the aorta of the chassis

The transmission system of the concrete pump includes: gearbox, transfer case and transmission shaft, like the aorta of the human body, which continuously transmits power to the driving wheel and hydraulic pump.


  • Check tire wear and pressure.
  • Electrical system inspection (lighting, indicator lights, stop lights).
  • Inspection of rear view mirrors.
  • Check all guide lights.
  • Check for oil and gas leaks, if oil leaks, tighten the fittings.
  • Inspection of safety devices such as limit switches, safety latches.
  • Before the pump truck is moved, check that all moving parts (such as fixed outriggers, booms) are fixed in a fixed position.


Nitrogen charging method of accumulator

  1. Unscrew the protective nut of the accumulator charging valve, connect one end of the charging tool to the nitrogen cylinder, and the other end to the accumulator. The nitrogen input from the nitrogen cylinder must pass through the pressure reducing valve.
  2. Slowly open the gas valve of the nitrogen cylinder. When the indicated value of the pressure gauge reaches the specified value (10~11MPa), closed the nitrogen cylinder valve. Hold for about 20 minutes and see if the pressure drops.
  3. Disconnect the connector from the charging tool to the accumulator end, and remove the charging tool.
  4. Tighten the accumulator safety valve protective cap.
  5. The accumulator can only be charged with nitrogen, and the charging pressure must meet the specified requirements.


Maintenance of structural parts

Due to the poor working condition of the concrete pump, the alternating force and severe vibration of the whole machine during the pumping operation may cause the connection of the structural parts to become loose or the welds to crack, so the inspection of the structure of the pump truck is particularly important.


If the structural parts are loose or cracked, if they are not found and repaired in time, it may lead to serious accidents such as damage to the whole machine or even casualties. Therefore, operator must pay attention for the inspection of structural parts.


Maintenance of electrical systems

  • Check that all electrical system components operate correctly and reliably.
  • Ensure complete insulation of wires, especially bundled or stressed wires, to avoid damage to components.
  • Check whether the connection of the wire is firm and free of oxidation.
  • Check that the electrical system is well grounded.
  • The replacement of electrical components must, in principle, use the same accessories as the original price. If any replacement parts are required, they must be inspected products of the same grade and standard.


Maintenance of concrete delivery pipes

  • The delivery pipe can be rotated periodically after some worn. The straight pipe is turned 120° clockwise, and the elbow is rotated 180°.
  • Delivery pipes must be checked frequently for wear. When the thickness of the tube is lower than the specified value, it should be replaced. This can be checked using the empirical method of hammering, ie estimating the tube thickness from the change in the sound heard. Of course, the more scientific method is to use a thickness gauge to measure.
  • Use original pipe fittings, do not add pipe after end of the boom.
  • From the staff with a distance of less than 3 meters , the straight pipes and elbow bend must be replaced in time when the wall thickness is worn to the specified value.


Maintenance of the cleaning system

  • Clean water must be used. Impurities in the water are easy to block in the water pipe, especially at the connection with the water tank; and affect the service life of the pump. Filters, tanks must be cleaned regularly to remove dirt.
  • In the low temperature weather, after the end of each day's work, the water in the waterway system should be drained to prevent the water pump or other components from bursting due to water freezing.


In order to ensure the high efficiency, safety, reliability and long working life of the concrete pump, regular and correct maintenance is necessary and crucial.
